Head to your Ads Manager and create a dummy campaign. In the ad set, search to see if your competitor is an interest. This usually only works for bigger brands, BUT is definitely worth testing to see if their audience engages with your business too. More in the video below.

View Their Basic Audience Targeting

Stalk your competitors! Run through their website, Facebook and Instagram page multiple times. Ask your family, friends or staff to also do the same. You will begin seeing their ads (but also ads of similar businesses) pop up on your newsfeed. Click on the three buttons on the top right hand side and click “Why Am I Seeing This Ad”. You now will be able to see a rough audience breakdown for this ad.

On Tuesday 19th May, Facebook announced a HUGE new feature called Facebook Shops. In an attempt to assist both businesses and the economy recover from the coronavirus pandemic, this feature has been pushed forward – and are we excited! This feature is going to change the whole e-commerce industry as we know it *mic drop*.

This is a mobile-first shopping experience where businesses can easily create an online store on Facebook and Instagram for free! Shops let you choose which of your items you want to feature, merchandise with product collections and tell your brand story with customisable fonts and colours. This feature will begin rolling out in the U.S.

We’re seeing a lot of small businesses that never had online presences get online for the first time. For a lot of small businesses in this period, this is the difference between staying afloat and going under. Mark zuckerberg

Zuckerberg and his team have really thought through how Shops would dominate the market with some very cool, key features:

  • Customer support will be strong with customers being able to connect with businesses through WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram Direct to ask questions, get support, track deliveries and more.
  • Live shopping features which can help with launches and flash sales.
  • Loyalty programs directly through Facebook and Instagram.
